I admit it, I always dreamed of having a little girl!! This year has been filled with so many firsts. I could not be more grateful that Everly made us a family of three! Around the six-month mark, I started thinking about ideas for her first birthday. Saying that, as soon as Everly fell in love with her Jelly Cats bunny, I knew bunnies would be her first birthday theme.
I’m sure like lots of Mum’s out there, We jump onto Pinterest to get inspired with the hope we can create our own magical event for our little ones. After lots of time on Pinterest and coming up with a list of everything I wanted to create for the party, I started putting things together. I must admit it, was WAY more work then I could have ever imagined. Nonetheless, I loved every minute of it. I have a whole new appreciation for events planners now. A couple of tips my Mom friends suggested that I loved and used were…….use Etsy for an invitation to email/text out and printed items to make life easier, make sure the party is after nap time so your little one is in a great mood and plan for rain if you’re doing it outside. Just in case!
The details are big for me and I wanted to make sure I thought of everything I could! One of my favourite details was the dessert table arbour with hanging flowers and the Everly sign. I worked together with an incredible local florist (Sophia’s Flower shop) to create this piece. Then was lucky enough to have a friend make me the sign as a gift and favour!
When it came to the food and drink, I actually didn’t want to go overboard as our party started at 3pm.
My hope was to create a garden party feel so I served sandwiches and fresh salads. One of my favourite details on the food table was the bunny garden we created with Roses and Peonies.
Since it was a HOT summer day in BC, I made sure I had lots of flavoured water and my new favourite refreshing drink, 7UP Lemon Lemon on ice for everyone to enjoy.
We had the most beautiful bunny cake and goodies from The Cake Mama. Not only are her cakes so pretty but, they taste amazing. I highly recommend her!!
On top of celebrating Everly’s first birthday, Jamie and I planned a surprise gender reveal. We wanted to include Everly and decided to make her cake for the smash cake the actual surprise reveal. It was SO much fun! I’m excited to share the news, we are expecting another little girl come November. This Mama is very happy!
I must say that Jamie and I work very well as a team! I did all the planning and getting everything together but it was him that made my vision happen with putting everything together! We were also lucky to have my incredible Mother- in- law come help us!!! She’s always there for us and I’m so grateful!
The day was filled with lots of love for our sweet girl! Family and friends joined us to celebrate the first year of her life!
